With CATARACT
Cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye and often develop slowly. It can affect one or both eyes.
In which the results causes blurred vision (as mention in the image), or less colourful with a cataract. Also trouble with bright lights, and trouble seeing at night might come.
With Freedom MONOFOCAL
The corrective action is to remove the natural crystalline lens and implant artificial intraocular lens.
Freedom Monofocal lenses provide better vision and have good visual effects. With monofocal lenses, only the far vision is corrected. Spectacles are requested for near vision.

PMMA Iris Claw

Iris Claw fixation technique for the correction of aphakia following extra or intra capsular cataract surgery has been used since long. Iris Claw Lens has unique one piece design made of PMMA only.
The extreme end of haptic loop bears a fine curve and is referred to as Iris Claw. The peripheral Part of the Iris is enclaved through this claw to secure the fixation of the lens. Phakic IOLs have been used as a refractive surgery tool for quite a while.
Different types of Phakic IOLs have shown a very large range of correction of refractive errors with exceptional accuracy & stability without disturbing the normal mechanism & accommodation.

PMMA Capsular Segment Ring

The Half Ring CTS (Capsular Tension Segment) is a modified design of the Cionni capsular tension rings The CTS is a partial ring of clear PMMA covering approximately one quadrant with a hole for temporary or permanent fixation. A single iris retractor hooked into the hole can support the segment during surgery. Lacking a pointed tip, these broad, polished ring segments will not tear the capsular hexis during surgery. Following surgery, they can either be removed or sutured to the sclera for permanent support.
Capsular Tension Segments are used to stabilize and re-center the capsular bag in the following cases :-

  • Significant zonular weakness.
  • Lens subluxation
  • Pseudoexfoliation
  • Myopia
  • Zonulolysis
  • Soft IOL
  • Marfan’s Syndrome.

Freedom Hooks
Iris Hooks (Retractors)

Iris retractors (also known as iris hooks) are used when a patient has cataracts, contracted pupils, or inoperative floppy iris syndrome. Iris hooks are considered the optimal temporary implants for such conditions. These highly effective iris hooks from can be used when pharmacological dilation is unsuccessful. By helping to maintain a safe pupillary diameter, iris hooks are, in many cases, invaluable devices for cataract surgery.

Capsular Hooks

A capsular tension ring may not hold the bag in place during phaco if the zonules are especially weak. Surgeons sometimes use iris retractors on the rim of the capsular hexis in order to manage this problem, but iris retractors aren't designed for this purpose. Since the iris retractor comes in at an angle, the hook is not in the plane of the rim to be supported.
In contrast, Capsule Care is designed such that the hook is angled to be in the plane of the anterior capsule. As a result, it's easy to get a firm and reliable grip on the rim. Further the tip of the hook is rounded to prevent any accidental damage to the peripheral capsule while placing the hooks in the bag. The round tip also provides a larger support area per hook thereby reducing the number of hooks required in each surgery. Once the hooks are placed in position to support the capsule, an endo capsular ring can be inserted.

Advantages :-

  • Maintains the position of the capsule during phaco.
  • Supports the fornix as well as the capsulorhexis rim, so that the peripheral capsule isn't attracted towards the phaco tip.
  • Avoids the problem of the capsular tension ring trapping cortex. Prevents zonular stress during nuclear rotation.
  • Makes it possible to perform posterior chamber phaco even with subluxated lenses having minimum zonular support.
